The All Day Pass Classic takes approx. 5.5 hours
Please come prepared for all weather conditions with waterproofs and strong footwear. All equipment will be provided by Honister on arrival.
All Day Pass Classic
Start your day off by arriving at Honister where you sign up ready for
The Via Ferrata Classic (duration approx 2-3hours). Our fully qualified staff will get you kitted up ready for your unique honister experience!
Once you've completed the Via Ferrata Classic, sit down and relax while our friendly staff fix you up a light lunch (consisting of home-made soup, panini or pastie and a hot or cold drink).
After lunch it's time to prepare yourself to go deep underground on The Kimberley or The Honister Tour (tour duration 1hour 30minutes).
Once you have completed the Mine Tour you'll still have enough time to explore our Visitor Centre, where you can wonder round our Factory Trail and even watch our men transforming huge slabs into the best roofing slate in the world, enjoy a tea or coffee and shop till you drop!
Terms and Conditions
1.1 These Booking Terms and Conditions apply to the booking of Honister’s Via Ferrata Classic and Xtreme
1.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions contain important information about participation by you and members of your party and accordingly you acknowledge and agree that all members of your party are aware of and accept these Booking Terms and Conditions
1.3 No variation of these Booking Terms and Conditions will be binding unless agreed in writing by Honister Slate Mine
1.4Any typographical clerical or other error or omission in any booking confirmation or other documentation issued by Honister Slate Mine (including any electronic documentation) shall be subject to correction without any liability on the part of Honister Slate Mine
1.5 Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to make changes to Honister’s Via Ferrata whether to conform with any applicable safety or other statutory requirements or otherwise
2. Booking Confirmation
2.1 No booking shall be deemed to have been accepted unless accepted in writing or otherwise confirmed by Honister
Slate Mine or its authorised agents (which shall include e-mail confirmation of booking)
2.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions incorporate Honister Slate Mine’s Risk Acknowledgement and Disclaimer. You and each member of your party will be required to sign the Risk Acknowledgement and Disclaimer before being allowed to participate in Honister’s Via Ferrata
2.3 You must advise Honister Slate Mine as soon as possible of any mistake in any booking confirmation.
2.4 Honister Slate Mine will use its best endeavours to ensure that you and your party’s participation commences at the time booked and it shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they arrive in sufficient time. Late arrivals may not be permitted to participate and no refunds or compensation will be payable in such circumstances
3. Health and Safety
3.1 Honister’s Via Ferrata is a physically challenging activity and participation is not without risk as a fall could be
fatal. All participants will receive detailed safety briefing from an instructor who will guide the activity.
3.2 Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to refuse participation or to remove a participant from Honister’s Via Ferrata
should it deem it necessary to do so. This includes a participant who does not comply with the safety rules and advice or
the safety system or who is deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
3.3 For the duration of Honister’s Via Ferrata participants will be supervised by an instructor. A participating adult must accompany under 16 year olds. Participating adults must sign a Risk Acknowledgement and Disclaimer stating that he or she will accept responsibility for the safety of him or herself and for supervision of the children in his or her care
3.4 Honister’s Via Ferrata is physically demanding and challenging but does not require a high level of body strength. All participants in Honister’s Via Ferrata must be reasonably fit and healthy, a minimum of 1m 30/ 4ft 3inches tall, at least 10 years old and must weigh less than 20 stones/ 128kg with a waist (above the navel) measuring not more than 110cm/43 inches and thighs measuring not more than 70cm/27 inches. If your measurements are close to or exceed these figures you may not fit in a harness and therefore will not be able to participate in Honister’s Via Ferrata. Anyone who does not meet these requirements will not be allowed to participate in Honister’s Via Ferrata. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party meet these requirements.
3.5 All participants are required to wear a safety harness and helmet provided by Honister Slate Mine. Participants’ own equipment cannot be used for insurance reasons.
3.6 Honister’s Via Ferrata is physically demanding and requires a degree of agility, strength and stamina. If participants are in any doubt as to whether they should attempt Honister’s Via Ferrata they should speak to a member of staff of Honister Slate Mine and/or watch the various video clips on the website of Honister Slate Mine www.honister.com. If participants have any medical concerns they are advised to consult their doctor in advance of booking. Participants will be required to certify that they do not suffer from any medical condition which would make it more likely that they would be involved in any incident which could result in injury to themselves or others. Due to the physical nature of Honister’s Via Ferrata Honister Slate Mine recommends that pregnant women should not participate. Pregnant women who still wish to participate will be required to sign a disclaimer confirming that they are aware that there are risks to them and their unborn child and that participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata is at their own risk
3.7 Participants need to be able to see similar distances to those required to drive a motor vehicle in order to be able to complete Honister’s Via Ferrata and to supervise any children under their care
3.8 All participants are required to act responsibly and courteously at all times and to respect other participants. Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to prevent any person from participating in or completing Honister’s Via Ferrata in the event that it deems the behaviour of any participant unsuitable
3.9 Participants must be dressed appropriately (see clause 4 below) and Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to refuse participation to any participant who is not appropriately dressed
3.10 Honister’s Via Ferrata will remain open in most weather conditions
3.11 No refunds or compensation or postponement will be payable or permitted by Honister Slate Mine in the event that any participant is not permitted to or decides not to undertake or complete Honister’s Via Ferrata for the reasons set out in this clause
4.1 It shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they are dressed appropriately.
4.2 Participants should wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions and which they do not mind getting wet dirty or even damaged. Short or loose fitting shorts and tops are not recommended as harnesses can rub and chafe. In particular the following restrictions shall apply:
4.2.1 Long hair must be tied back so that it does not hinder the close fitting or straps of the helmet
4.2.2 Participants must wear footwear which surrounds and encloses the whole foot and has a good grip. No sandals, slip on shoes, open toed shoes or canvas/cotton shoes are permitted. Honister Slate Mine recommends ankle supporting boots
4.2.3 Waists must be covered and body piercings removed securely covered or taped over
4.2.4 Personal items such as rucksacks and drink bottles should be securely attached to the participant in such a way that they do not impede the harness or helmet
4.3 Honister Slate Mine will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of clothing or other personal items resulting from participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata
5.1 Photography is not permitted while participating in Honister’s Via Ferrata
5.2 A personalised souvenir photo CD will be available to purchase at the end of the participants Via Ferrata experience
6.1 You shall be entitled to cancel your booking subject to Honister Slate Mine receiving your request for cancellation at least 48 hours before the booked start time. Any requests for cancellation must be made in person or by telephoning Honister Slate Mine on 017687 77230 or outside office hours by e-mail to email@example.com. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause but no refund or compensation shall be payable
6.2 Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to cancel your booking at any time. In the event that Honister Slate Mine decides to cancel your booking it shall use its best endeavours to notify you as soon as possible. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause but no refund or compensation shall be payable
6.3 In the event that it proves necessary to close Honister’s Via Ferrata for reasons beyond the control of Honister Slate Mine and in circumstances where you have commenced participation in Honister’s Via Ferrata you shall not be entitled to any refund in part or in whole. In such circumstances Honister Slate Mine may but shall not be obliged to offer alternative dates or times at reduced rates
7. Price and Payment methods
7.1 Payment in full at Honister Slate Mine’s current rates shall be due at the time of booking
7.2 Payment can be made by debit or credit card either online or by contacting the booking line on 017687 77714
8.1 Except as otherwise provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions Honister Slate Mine shall not be responsible for the loss or damage of or to any property or to any person arising from the booking or participation in Honister’s
8.2 Parking facilities are available at Honister Slate Mine and any vehicles are left at the owner’s risk and subject to any terms and conditions and the payment of any fees as may be required
8.3 Except as provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions any liability of Honister Slate Mine shall be limited to any charges paid to Honister Slate Mine
8.4 Nothing in these Booking Terms and Conditions is intended to or shall limit the liability of Honister Slate Mine in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Honister Slate Mine or of its employees agents or contractors
9.1 If any term or condition is determined to be illegal invalid or otherwise unenforceable it shall be severed and deleted from these Booking Terms and Conditions and the remaining terms and conditions shall survive remain in full force and continue to be binding and enforceable
9.2 Nothing above shall confer on any third party any benefit or right to enforce any of these Booking Terms and Conditions
9.3 These Booking Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and Honister Slate Mine submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Englan
